Drexel ExCITe Center donations received

This is an online portal with information on donations that were announced publicly (or have been shared with permission) that were of interest to Vipul Naik. The git repository with the code for this portal, as well as all the underlying data, is available on GitHub. All payment amounts are in current United States dollars (USD). The repository of donations is being seeded with an initial collation by Issa Rice as well as continued contributions from him (see his commits and the contract work page listing all financially compensated contributions to the site) but all responsibility for errors and inaccuracies belongs to Vipul Naik. Current data is preliminary and has not been completely vetted and normalized; if sharing a link to this site or any page on this site, please include the caveat that the data is preliminary (if you want to share without including caveats, please check with Vipul Naik). We expect to have completed the first round of development by the end of July 2024. See the about page for more details. Also of interest: pageview data on analytics.vipulnaik.com, tutorial in README, request for feedback to EA Forum.

Knight Foundation75,000.001--Artshttps://knightfoundation.org/grants/5741-- Grant period: 04/01/2013 - 03/31/2014; part of the challenge: Knight Arts Challenge 2019; goal: To engage and develop new audiences for music with a series of live concerts enhanced with audio-driven media technologies The Drexel University ExCITe Center, which focuses on the intersection of art and technology, will launch a series of live music concerts that employ new media technologies, such as projected visuals and mobile apps, to better engage audiences. Working with prominent national and local artists, these performances will span multiple genres — pop/rock, jazz and classical. The aim of this project is to demonstrate that real-time interactive visualizations can improve the concert experience, better inform listeners, and attract new audiences to a wide range of musical forms and styles. The Expressive & Creative Interaction Technologies (ExCITe) Center is a strategic initiative of Drexel University to foster highly multidisciplinary research and education activities spanning all academic units. Efforts focus on the intersection of art and technology, as the center believes the arts inspire innovation, but also that artistic work increasingly depends upon a fundamental understanding of technology. The Center opened its new 11,000-square-foot space on Drexel’s campus earlier this year.
